Charity of the season

The North East means the world to us: it’s our home, and the community has welcomed ncl wellness club with open arms. The least we can do is give back to the incredible charities and organisations that embody the true spirit of living here.

Each season, we’ll choose a local charity or non-profit to support. We’ll shine a spotlight on their amazing work through this dedicated section on our website, sharing their stories and the impact they have on our community. Please scroll down to see our current fundraiser!

At every class and event, we'll bring a donation jar for anyone who would like to and is in the position to donate. We’ll also be raising funds through special events, fundraisers, and a percentage of ticket sales.

We’d love for you to join us in celebrating and supporting the wonderful people and causes that make the North East so special. Together, we can help their missions thrive.

If you have any charities that you would like to have considered as our charity of the season, please contact us using the contact form!

This season's charity is:

Alphabetti Black text long logo.png

Many of you may know Alphabetti Theatre well. We have hosted many events in their beautiful space such as B*tches Who Bingo and Pillow Talk. Alphabetti Theatre are known for their celebration and support of LGBTQIA+, Global Majority and disabled communities. They are a warm space: somewhere you can go and sit in with access to free wifi, sockets and some of the best toasties ever! They also host regular shows that are perfect for a friend trip or a solo date. We love the space and we love the team even more. They have supported us so much over our first year, so it only makes sense to have them as our first charity of the season!

We have set up a GoFund me page if you would like to, and are able to donate. If not, it would mean everything to us if you could give it a read and a simple share!

About Alphabetti Theatre

in their own words...
AlphabettiFeb2025-1_edited.jpg

Alphabetti Theatre is an award winning, artist led performance space in Newcastle, formed in 2012 - not opened for business, money, or personal gain but for the necessity of a fringe venue in Newcastle and the North East, ensuring the development and improvement of the ecology of the performing arts in the region.

Since then we have developed into a thriving cultural hub, inclusive space and arts venue. One of our main focuses is on the accessibility of the venue. According to Difference Northeast, 27% of the North East are disabled. We invested in our staff and equipment and now a minimum of 27% of Alphabetti’s programme is now accessible through captioned,

audio described performances and/or relaxed performances. Our training continues to this day in 2025 our core staff all received basic BSL training as well as completing a visual impairment awareness training day. In November we will be continuing our training with Show Racism The Red Card.

Our accessibility also covers financial access. We believe great art should be for everyone, regardless of financial situation.  That’s why our pricing options will always include our £3 No Questions Asked ticket (If an audience member can't afford any of the other tickets and cannot attend a pay what you feel performance but would like to still see the show then this

price bracket is for you - no questions will be asked, and you will be treated the same as all other audience members).

It was also a huge highlight of 2025 for us to be the Trans+ zone for Newcastle Pride. Providing a safe, inclusive and free space to meet, create and exist without pressures or fear. Our toilets are fully inclusive with cubicles, urinals, and an accessible stall with baby changing facilities.

Alphabetti Theatre prides itself on being a hub for the community. Over the years we have built up a network of community partners who we have collaborated with on projects and events to serve our local community, and that network is ever-growing! We’re so excited to be involved with NCL Wellness Club who share our ethos of creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for people to come together in a world that is becoming increasingly more divided.
